As I get older, I am taking care of my health and body/mind/soul more and more and finding new ways to do that. In the past two years I have tried a lot of new methods of relaxation and alternative healing methods such as acupuncture, different types of yoga, reiki, breathwork, different forms of meditation, and facials and spas. They really do work. After trying all of these methods, I became more relaxed, in tune with my body and more happy with myself. I have found that any type of self pampering will make you love yourself more.

This past weekend I went to a spa and sauna which was very unique and like nothing I've seen before. My friend has been going for awhile and asked me to go. There was a main spa room where they held the whirlpool and the steam sauna. This room was all female and the main rooms (where they do give you a uniform to wear) are coed male and female. It was very affordable and the people were friendly. I have never been to any spa before and was dying to go. It was an asian spa named King Spa. The different sauna rooms were gorgeous, each having a different theme. There was the pyramid room, charcoal room, ice room, salt room, base rock room, fire sudatorium, ocher room and my favorite the amethyst room. They also had a steam sauna, whirlpool spa, acupuncture and regular massage, movie theater, juice bar, food court, and TV room.

I loved going into the themed rooms. They were all very hot. You would lay down and just relax. They had aroma therapy bags hanging from the walls and they were all uniquely designed. The amethyst room was very beautiful, covered in amethyst rock all around. The lights were dimmed low also. It made me feel at peace. People would meditate in all of these rooms or just lie down.

Amethyst Gemstone Meaning

The amethyst rock is known for it's healing properties and is used for protection and power as well. It is also known to guard against drunkenness and instill a sober mind. The word amethyst comes from the Greek meaning "without drunkenness" and it is believed to protect one from poison. As a power stone it is used as a dream stone to help with insomnia. Put one under your pillow and it helps you have pleasant dreams, or lay it on your forehead to relieve a headache. The Ancient Egyptians used it to guard against guilty and fearful feelings. It has been worn as protection from self deception. It is also used as a meditation aid. In the Catholic faith it is used as a wisdom stone and symbolizes humility, sincerity, and spiritual wisdom. It is thought to be the perfect stone symbolizing The Age of Aquarius which we have evolved into this past year. Amethyst stones are also used for blood and breathing problems. The crystal clusters are used to keep the air clean and positive in the home. It also helps overcome fears and cravings.

Healing Power of Salt

For thousands of years salt was used as a panacea. Here are some benefits of salt :

• Salt is a strong antihistamine. It can relieve asthma by putting it on the tongue.

• Salt is vital for extracting acidity from inside the cells, particularly the brain cells.

• Salt is a natural diuretic.

• Salt is vital for the kidneys to clear excess acidity and pass the acidity into the urine.

• Salt is essential in the treatment of emotional and affective disorders.

• Salt is essential for preserving the seratonin and melatonin levels in the brain.

• Salt is vital for maintaining muscle tone and strength.

The pyramid room was the same thing except you looked like you were in the inside of a pyramid. The shape of the pyramid is supposedly very healing in it's shape holding a certain type of energy and air. Then the ice room looked like an igloo and was very cold. It was refreshing after coming out of one of the saunas though. The fire sudatorium looked like a native american sweat lodge and smelled of fire burning. The other rooms all were pretty much the same either covered in salt, charcoal, rock, or ocher. The steam sauna was great.

We also ended up watching one of the movies that were playing in the theater. The place is open 24/7 and you could even sleep there if you wanted to. The beds though, are just mats that are laid out on the floor.

It was a fun place to go to. After I left I felt more at peace and better about everything in general. I felt more centered and refreshed and more inside my body. It also made me feel like taking better care of myself. I think everyone should find a place like this where they can just relax, get centered and be pampered. It will make you feel better about your life and yourself and the benefits are amazing.

I loved your insightful Hub! What interesting information. Is there a "King Spa" in Southern California, by any chance? Sounds dreamy.

Wow what a place. Where is King's Spa? Maybe you could include that. Might be a good idea to mention King's Spa in your title and in your first paragraph. Link to their website if they have one.

Your very first picture, the King Spa, immediately made me think of a UFO, and then your title helped in that assessment. Yes, flying off on a UFO would be a "Unique Getaway." What you described reminded me, vaguely, of the massauge parlor I used to go to in Japan. (early-60s) It was a steam bath, a really "hot" bath, and a massauge. And, no, to my knowledge, nothing else happened there. At least not officially, on a more personal basis, yes, probably. Whenever we came into port I would go there and always ask for the same girl, and I never asked her for anything else. I guess I wanted to always believe that she, Mariko-san, was as "precious" as I saw her.

c21,

Salt is also useful for keeping demons away when placed in a circle they can't cross the line it can cause them troubles if you shoot them with salt rounds. So thats why a salt bath is the best for rejuvination and keeping the evil spirits away. Ive also heard salt is also good on popcorn and those big baked pretzels.

Thank you Gypsy! I'm glad you liked it. That's a shame they charge so much! Maybe you can come out to Dallas or Chicago and go to King Spa. :)
